Officers from the Wigan Neighbourhood Team were on patrol in the Norley Hall area when they spotted a vehicle with two occupants that attracted their attention.
A stop check was carried out and officers established that the driver was currently disqualified from driving and therefore had no valid insurance in place.
As a result, the vehicle was seized under Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act.
Further checks then revealed that the driver was also wanted on an outstanding court warrant after failing to appear at court.
The driver was subsequently arrested on suspicion of:
Driving whilst disqualified Driving without insurance Failing to appear at court
He remains in police custody whilst enquiries continue.
Driving whilst disqualified and without insurance poses a significant risk to other road users. Officers across Wigan will continue to proactively target those who choose to ignore the law and take positive action to keep our roads and communities safe.
Anyone with information about crime or anti-social behaviour in their area can report it via 101, online through the GMP website, or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Always call 999 in an emergency.
